The Story of My Salvation
I remember the day like it was yesterday. I had no plans on walking into a church that day, but God had other plans for me. My wife's sister and brother-in-law had a graduation ceremony at their church and my wife only was supposed to attend. Certain events happened (Gods hand) that put me into the position to have to drive her to the church. So of course being the "great" husband that I am, =-) I attended with my wife. Being raised catholic, attended catholic school until the 8th grade, I thought I knew everything there was to know regarding religion and God. As I sat in a church that didn't resemble any church I ever attended, listening to a story I have heard may times, the story of Noah and the Ark. As the preacher spoke he began to compare the Ark to Jesus. This was something new to me. The preacher said there was only one way to be saved from Hell, through the blood of Jesus. He said the Ark was the only way to be saved from the flood. He preached how the wicked evil people in the world who mocked and told Noah he was crazy, because of their unbelief, perished in the flood and they had no hope. The same was said about the people who denied that Jesus was the Son of God sent into this world to save us from our sin and an eternity in Hell. I didn't know it at the time but i know now, that the Holy Spirit was working on my heart that day! As I sat there bowing my head and eyes closed, I raised my hand to the question, "Do you want to spend eternity in Heaven, but don't know how to get there?" A moment passed and my brother-in-law took me to a room upstairs. There he told me the most precious story I have ever heard, how the God of Heaven sent his only Son to die for my sins. I now understood that there was a price to be paid for sin, and Jesus paid it! I prayed with my brother-in-law that Jesus come into my heart and save me, and from that day on, I knew whenever I die, I get to go directly to Heaven to see the One who died for me!
